Week In Review

Another great week in Fayette County!  This past week, I had the pleasure of attending the Accountability Steering Committee meeting in Frankfort.  I would strongly advise educators, parents, and our community members to stay informed about this important work that will embody what it means for every child to graduate “future ready”.

We also held our monthly planning meeting with the FCPS Board of Education.  This meeting was historic for several reasons.  The board adopted the first ever district-wide curriculum for English/language arts (K-12) for tier I and ELL level 1.  Also, we shared with the board the work we are doing to increase the academic outcomes of our students with disabilities.  We have implemented a co-teaching model this year and will continue to expand this model across more of our schools to better met the needs of all students.

In addition, I attended the Courageous Conversation meeting that was launched as a result of our trip to Charleston.  I also recorded a video for the Lexington Chamber of Commerce to showcase our work with the Business Education Network, Ford NGL, and our high schools to create career academies.

Lastly, I facilitated a workshop with the Rosa Parks PTA focused on strengthening the relationships between home and school.
