KBA Contest

Garden Springs Bulldogs and JLA Tigers are Fighting Like Cats n Dogs over KBA Books!

Since 2009, JLA and GSE have competed to see which school can read the most KBA books by March 2nd-Read Across America Day/Dr. Seuss’ birthday-then the children cast a vote for their favorite book!  The winner gets to keep the Cat and Dog Fight Trophy during the next school year.  The Trophy is presented to the winning school by their opponent’s Principal who must dress like the winning school’s mascot.  Congratulations to both the Dogs and the Cats for reading over 4,900 KBA books this year!   That’s what this contest is all about—reading gr-r-r-eat books!

Kentucky Bluegrass Award
The Kentucky Bluegrass Award is a student choice program. The KBA promotes and encourages Kentucky students in kindergarten through grade 12 to read a variety of quality literature. All Kentucky public and private schools, as well as public libraries, are welcome to participate in the program.
