Woodland Art Fair attracts visitors despite wet weather

Woodland park hosted a surplus of visitors from all across America this weekend at the Woodland Art Fair. This event is a place where artists can display and sell their art and the people of Lexington can go enjoy and purchase art. Ranging from canvas oil paintings to metal work trinkets, the fair truly has works of art from all walks of life. Along with the art, there is also live music from local musicians such as Ben Lacy. Food trucks and food stands were available for people if they wanted to get some lunch or a drink while they were enjoying the fair.

This weekend the state of Kentucky endured torrential rainfall (especially out of the ordinary for August), but this didn’t stop fair goers. Despite the muddy mess left behind by the rain, the art enthusiasts of Lexington showed out strong to support artisan business. The people of Lexington took to the muddy pathways with rain boots and bare feet to visit the stands and take in the fair. The Woodland Fair embodied the “show must go on” sentiment with live music playing through the rain and all art stands manned throughout. Lexington band Bridge 19 even started playing songs about the rain as a sort of sarcastic celebration.

The Woodland Art Fair is an iconic celebration of art that people flock to, through rain or shine, as proved by the events of this weekend. Lexingtonians showing out strong to this event is a testament to the culture and values of the city showing how important art truly is here in the heart of Kentucky.
