HC introduces new themes for 2018 Spirit Week

By:Abby Reichart

HC is hosting its annual Spirit Week September 4th through 7th preluding the Homecoming weekend. Students are invited to dress up according to each day’s specific theme. New sponsors Aaron Cain and Jamie Clark asked student council members to think of ideas, they then voted on these ideas to see which themes would make the list.

The themes this year are as follows:

Tuesday – Hawaiian

Wednesday – Vine Day

Thursday – Class Colors

Friday – Blue and Gold

Vine day is a theme HC has never done before. On this day students dress up as their favorite character from a vine, but they must leave props at home.

“Since we haven’t done this before I’m curious to see how many people will get into it.” Cain said. I think it’s cool that we’re trying out something new. It could be challenging if we tried three new days that nobody has ever done before. We’ve got Hawaiian day, Class Color days, and if you throw in a wild card like Vine day then I think that’s something people will get into.”

The second to last day is class colors day. Each grade is assigned a color and the students get to dress up according to that color. Freshman wear pink, sophomores black, juniors blue, and seniors white.

The last day before the Homecoming dance, is the traditional Blue and Gold day. Students wear school colors to support the football team which plays that night at 7:30. Together, these days encourage school spirit and motivate students to branch out of their comfort zone.
