Webster details six things to do this Halloween season

With Halloween coming up, community events are happening all around town, many of which are either cheap or free to attend. With so much going on, there will be something for everyone to do. From haunted attractions, to parades and parties, here are six things to do this Halloween season.

Wicked World

At 5817 Tates Creek Road, Nicholasville, KY, haunted attractions are open for the public. Tickets are between $10 to $26. Experience a haunted circus, explore an abandoned hospital, and investigate a forgotten military base. In order to participate, you must read and agree to the rules and arrive at 7:30 and remain until closing at 10:00 for Thursday and Sunday; Midnight for Fridays and Saturdays until November 1st.

Fright Night

At 4001 Athens-Boonesboro Road, also known as Jacobson Park, haunted trails are open to the public on the weekends until 12 and 10 on Sundays. The tickets range from ($18 to $38). The attractions include a clown-filled candy land, a dark forest with unusual inhabitants and a place with 13 doors each that lead to its own fright. Make sure to read the rules and respect all actors.

Thriller Parade

A Lexington tradition, there are two parades downtown. One is a Halloween parade for younger children. Following that parade, The popular music video Thriller is performed  as hundreds of zombies shuffle down the streets of Lexington in a spectacular sight. Wicked Wonders Market

Leading up to the Thriller parade is a market with vendors and other people gathering at Courthouse Plaza. From 2-8 enjoy the unique vendors selling weird, scary and Halloween-themed items. Then at 6:30, enjoy a variety of music and performances. Performers include the Blackbird Dance Theater, SCAPA, the March Madness Marching Band, and the Mecca Dance Studio.

Devine’s Corn Maze “Field of Horror”

Although out in Harrodsburg Kentucky, (specifically at 623 Talmage Mayo Road). There is a corn maze filled with characters from movies such as Children of the Corn, Halloween, The Exorcist, etc. The price is between $8-$10. It starts at 7:30 to midnight on October 26th to 27th.

Evans’ Orchard

For people who are more relaxed and don’t want to be scared, Evans’ Orchard is a good alternative. There is a fruit orchard for picking apples and a cider mill to complement it. There is a market and a cafe as well. The highlight is the pumpkin patch with a large selection of all kinds of pumpkins. Evans’ Orchard is located at 180 Stone Rd, Georgetown, KY.
