Wrapping up the Nov. 14 2018 SBDM meeting

The Nov. 14 SBDM meeting began promptly with the good news report. Seven students were selected for KMEA All-State Orchestra and nine students were selected as a National Merit Semi-Finalist. Boys soccer also won the KHSAA region and placed second in the state tournament. 154 students received all distinguished in all subject areas of state testing.

Fundraisers for Academic Team, Archery, Girls Basketball, Cheerleading, Orchestra, JROTC, COED Y, Bee Club and Chorus were approved. A field trip for Cheerleading was also approved.

Next, the student report was given by HC Student representative Merrick Moore. Moore discussed increasing more student involvement in clubs by advertising various clubs at lunch.

The meeting was concluded with talk about metal detectors and student IDs. HC Principal Paul Little hopes to receive metal detectors by late March ID badges, however, will be put into effect second semester. Little plans to send out emails about the changes being made by Thanksgiving break.

The next SBDM meeting will be held Dec. 12 at 5:30 in the HC library.
