Upcoming October Events for Teens to Enjoy

With Halloween just around the corner, there is an abundance of events available to attend. They all vary vastly but are all equally important to the culture Lexington provides.

  1. Keeneland Thoroughbred Racing

Keeneland is known throughout the world for its elegant and competitive horse races. Races are open through Oct 26th. There is no racing Monday or Tuesday, and there is a small admission price of $5. Food, drink, and merchandise is available for purchase.1

2. Lexington Hot Cider Hustle 5k

The Hot Cider Hustle is a 5k event with a goal of raising money for the American Cancer Society and enjoying all things fall. The event will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park on November 3rd. If you sign up before October 9th, you save $20 on the full $60 registration fee. The race lasts from 9am to 10:30am, and each person who finishes the course receives a Hot Cider Hustle mug and caramel apple. And, of course, apple cider.

3. Blue Devil 5k

This school spirit event will be held on Oct 26th. The event has a registration fee for HC students and teachers of $12, and includes refreshments. The proceeds from the event will go to the HC Boys Basketball Team. The race begins at 9:30am and ends at 11:30am at Coldstream Park. You can sign up either online or in person at Bourbon n’Toulouse on Oct 18th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. You can also sign up in person at John’s Run Walk Shop on Oct 19th from 11am to 1pm.Lexington

4. Halloween Festival and Parade

On Sunday, Oct 27th, the Lexington Halloween Festival and Parade will take place in downtown Lexington. This free annual event will start at 4pm and last till 8pm. With everything from crafts to a variety show, this event is a Lexington favorite. A new feature this year is the Monster Mashup Flash Mob.

5. Freaky Friday Flicks

On Oct 11th, The Moondance Amphitheatre will be showing some family favorites for the fall. The cost is $2 for anybody 6 or older. Food trucks will be at the event and marshmallow roasting is included.

6. Lexington Farmers Market

Every Saturday in October through December, the Lexington Farmers Market will be held from 7am to 2pm at Cheapside Park Fifth Third Pavilion. On Sundays, the market will be held in the Save-A-Lot parking lot on Southland Drive from 10am to 2pm. The market presents an array of locally sourced crafts and products while also increasing interaction between neighbors.

       7. Fall Craft Show

The Northeast Christian Church will be holding the craft fair on Saturday Oct 12th from 9am to 3pm. An assortment of crafts are available for purchase along with an auction also being part of the event. The proceeds go to support the church’s ministry team and lunch will be available for purchasing.

       8. 5 Across Pitch Contest

On Oct 30, Awesome Inc. will be holding a live event that they compare to the hit show “Shark Tank”. Woh a $5 admission fee, dinner is included while you watch local Lexington entrepreneurs compete to win $500 for their ideas.the event lasts from 5pm-7pm and each entrepreneur has 5 minutes to pitch their idea.

      9. Ghost Hunts at Waveland

The Waveland State Historic Site will be hosting an investigation into the supernatural. At 8pm on Oct 25th and lasting till midnight, a mass paranormal search is going to be held. The proceeds of the event go to the Friends of Waveland.

       10. Music on the Lawn

Shaker Village is presenting a live music event every Friday and Saturday until Oct 26th. The event features marshmallow roasting, outdoor dining, and, of course, music. Admission is not required and the event lasts from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
