What can you do with old computer parts?

Cletus the Zombie Bot
PLD students creating Cletus

Paul Laurence Dunbar’s STLP (Student Technology Leadership Program) working in partnership with TSA (Technology Student Association) used old technology components to create a scarecrow. Cletus the Zombie Bot came in second in the Contemporary category of the Scarecrow Fest sponsored by Artique at Lexington Green.

Media Lab in Memory of Jesse Higginbotham

PLD’s STLP DDFO (Dunbar Doing For Others) will soon start collecting toys for the University of Kentucky’s Children’s Hospital. Please contact Kim.Overstreet@fayette.kyschools.us if you would like to contribute. Their STLP is also working to plan and host middle school camps where game programming and other classes will be offered and other students are creating digital art to submit to the STLP State Championship and the Fayette County STEM Fair. And last, but not least, I visit Dunbar last Saturday as they dedicated a new computer lab in the memory of Jesse Higginbotham. The STLP and Newspaper students painted, wired, and set up computers for the new Jesse Higginbotham Media Lab (JHML).
